September/ October Favourites

IMG-3143.JPG

Ok so I missed a month! Don’t be hating on me . September was a busy month and October just disappeared before my eyes . I have a serious back log of products I am reviewing so I am going to up my game . I will get into some new product reviews over the next few weeks but I am going to continue with my monthly favourites. These will only ever be products that have been a crucial part of my daily routine and I totally love. I may also call out some products that were a bit of a fail for me after I have given them a decent bash.

Rather than waste anymore time, let’s just jump into this months favourites. I will be emptying my make up bag again this month and starting with a whole new set of products so if there is something you want to see me use please leave suggestions in the comments section below.

Declare- Multi Lift Serum

I am pretty sure I have spoken about this product like a million times. The reality is that I just keep going back to it. I started September using Declare’s Oceans best serum and it just did not fulfil my hydration needs. I do my best to try out as many skincare products but this is the one serum my skin seems to love. I use this in the morning only as I am using a more intense serum at night. It comes in a dropper bottle so I pop 4 or 5 drops on the back of my hand and stipple it allover my face and neck using my finger tips. I find this instantly refreshing and calming on the skin. It also soaks into the skin really quickly which means you can get your make up on straight after applying. I don’t actually use a moisturiser over this everyday . I am starting to hate moisturisers. Weird, I know, but they just seem to sit on my skin and cause my make up to roll so I have cut them out. Not sure if this is the right thing to do but I am listening to my skin and just giving it what it wants.

Top Tip: I sometimes pop 2 drops of this on the palm of my hands and press it into the skin to refresh my make up after lunch if my base has dried out.

Fenty Beauty- Pro Filter Foundation

Available at Harvey Nichols

Available at Harvey Nichols

I have reviewed this foundation before and liked it but this time I loved it. I was kind of shocked, It is a medium coverage foundation with a semi matte finish. I usually use the Charlotte Tilbury ‘Light Wonder’ which has a gorgeous dewy finish. The Fenty foundation definitely gives a glow to the skin but has little more lasting power than my usual Charlotte foundation. I have been wearing this when I have had longer days or I know I have an event after work so I need the foundation to last. You don’t need to use a massive amount either. Two or three pumps will easily cover the full face and it comes in almost 40 shades. I will say for anyone with a pink undertone there are not as many options as the majority of the shades are yellow based but I actually really enjoyed shade 170 as it gave my usually pasty shade a little bit of warmth.

Top Tip: Apply with a damp beauty blender. Work from the centre of the face out and bounce the blender across your complexion until it is thoroughly blended into the complexion. Using a beauty blender will also make it last longer as it pushes the foundation into the skin.

Charlotte Tilbury- Airbrush Compact Powder

Available at Brown Thomas

Available at Brown Thomas

I am not usually a fan of pressed powders. In fact, I would probably say that I hate them. I always much prefer a loose powder as it is finely milled and doesn’t highlight fine lines or sit in open pores. I only ever use a compact powder when on the go. Mainly because loose powder is so messy and is impossible to use on the go! I started to use the Charlotte pressed powder out of the need for a powder for on the go. After a few days I found I was reaching for the powder out of choice as I was really starting to enjoy the finish. It definitely gives a nice matte veil without drying out the skin and has a little touch of coverage in there too. Great for topping up the base half way through the day or for a pre date top up!

Top Tip: A small powder puff is great to bring with this product for on the go. Delivers the same result as a brush and is easier to fit in a super small bag over a big bulky powder brush.

Benefit Cosmetics - Gimme Brow Plus

Available on Cloud 10 Beauty

This product is my everything. If you know anything about me you know I love all things brows and also I love anything that is easy to use. I love products that require absolute zero skills and are completely fool proof. People are still super scared of brows and usually don’t know where to start. Gimme brow is the perfect product for a complete brow novice and is also an essential for a brow pro. For the beginner, this product will add some colour, volume and shape in a simple swipe. It has a tiny applicator similar to mini mascara wand. Brush it back and forward through the brow. It contains little micro fibres that actually mimic the appearance of real hair, this is how it instantly adds volume to the brow. For anyone who is a brow pro and uses a brow kit, brow pencil or pomade? Gimme brow is the perfect way to finish your brow look. Most brow product are one dimensional so can look flat on the skin. Gimme brow adds a 3D effect and brings flat brows back to life.

Top Tip: Brush Gimme Brow backwards through the brow first to really pump up the volume. Once you have really pushed up the brow change direction and brush the brows into place.

Charlotte Tilbury- Bar Of Gold Palette

Available at Brown Thomas/ Arnotts

Available at Brown Thomas/ Arnotts

Can you deal with this? I am completely obsessed! As you know I love me some glow. When I first saw this at the Charlotte launch I was so insanely obsessed. Sad part was we weren’t allowed talk about it or take it home. Was I tempted to steal it?… yes I was but I didn’t. Anyway, when I finally got my hands on it I was overjoyed. I am particularly fond of the rose gold shade which works really well on my skin tone. I personally can’t use the yellow gold shade. This shade is better for darker skin tones so I might give it a bash after my next spray tan. It does take one or two uses to get the strong pigment from the highlighters, it’s almost like there is a seal on top so don’t be disheartened if you don’t get full on beaming light on first use. You are getting to the good stuff.

Top Tip: More is more :) I use this highlight on cheekbones, under brow bone, above brow bone, on the nose, over the top lip. Let’s just say if I was on the beach in a thong this highlighter would be on my ass. That is all!

I hope you enjoyed this months favourites. I am going to get better at doing this on time so I am starting to take not of Novembers already. Also watch out for my ‘Basic Bitch Beauty’ series which will be going live this week.
