The Top 5
I always say that the trick to having flawless skin comes down to three important steps.
!. Skincare- Having the right regime that gives you the perfect level of hydration.
2. Primer- The right primer will smooth out pores and give you an even smooth base to apply your foundation onto.
3. Foundation - One must find a foundation sent from the gods!
Finding the perfect foundation is like Cinderella's slipper. It has to be the perfect fit. Everyone has different needs from their foundation. Whether is be coverage or finish everyone has their own personal preference. I have broken down my favourite five by coverage to help you navigate the right one for you.
Light Coverage
1. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
This foundation was my all day everyday for about 3 years. This is a lightweight foundation that glides on to give a sheer finish with the most stunning glow. I have pretty dehydrated skin. This foundation is perfect for dryer skin types as the formula seems to hydrate the skin. There is a buildable element to this foundation. Start with a pea size amount and blend outwards from the t-zone. For an extra kick of coverage you can go back in with a second helping in the areas that you want more coverage.
2. Bourjois City Radiance
As a affordable option for light coverage I have been loving this as a super sheer base. This is again a very dewy base. It works almost as a second skin. This you can be applied like a tinted moisturiser, so don't be afraid to use you fingers. If you want to up that flawless finish try buffing this into the skin with a powder brush and it will give that barley there flawless finish. For the price of it... you can't go wrong!
Medium Coverage
3. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Foundation
I know I have already reviewed this foundation as part of my Fenty review so I will keep this short and sweet. This foundation claims to be full coverage but I completely disagree. Now, it is a lovely foundation but delivers a medium coverage. It dries down to a semi matte finish that looks great on the skin. It also comes in 40 shades so they have a foundation for every single skin tone. The only downside to that is that it can be more challenging to find your shade. Make sure to ask the sales advisors to colour match you and try the foundation on you so you feel super comfortable with the shade before you buy it.
Full Coverage
4. Flormar Perfect Coverage Foundation
It won't come as a surprise to anyone that this has ended up in my top 5. I never stop talking about this foundation (I know its annoying, I'm sorry !) There is a good reason for me harping on about it all the time. This is a full coverage foundation, with a semi matte finish which delivers the ultimate #skingoals. This is a perfect dupe for Estee Lauders Double Wear Foundation . It has the same finish and same coverage but at a fraction of the price.
5. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation
I am a big Charlotte fan ! As a make up artist herself, she knows the importance of the perfect base. The coverage in this foundation builds to a strong full coverage with a matte finish. The texture of this foundation feels really thick and a little goes a long way. Start with a super small amount and build as needed. If you go in with too much product it will gather so less is more people. I used a flat head Kabuki brush to apply and it gave me life.
I hope this has helped you find the right foundation fit for you. If there is a foundation that you can't live without please comment below and let me know. Also, if there is a foundation that didn't deliver for you let me know!
